We’ve Launched Two ‘Pay by the Session’ Rehearsal Rooms
We've launched two hourly/session rehearsal rooms at Canalside Community Music Space. The new home of Boom Leeds.
Hi everyone. We just wanted to give you an update about whats going on with rehearsals at Boom Leeds.
Boom Leeds is now based in our new building and project: Canalside Community Music Space at 5 Canal Place, Armley Road, Leeds, LS12 2DU.
When we got the keys to this place, the rooms we now call rehearsal spaces were anything but. One was a tangle of telecoms cables, the other a makeshift store room while building works clattered on around it.
For years at Boom Leeds, we’ve hosted rehearsal spaces for bands like Eagulls, The Flex, Higher Power, Corinne Bailey Rae, Static Dress, Slimelord, Cryptic Shift and many more. Bands turn noisy evenings into projects that tour the world. The permanent rooms have always had waiting lists.
At Canalside Community Music Space we’re building more permanent spaces, but not every band or project needs a permanent rehearsal room, especially when you’re first starting out. Many in our community have told us they want to be part of what’s happening here, but only need to rehearse once a week or every couple of weeks. For a long time, they’ve been asking us to offer session-based or hourly rehearsal options.
At our new home, Canalside Community Music Space, we’ve finally made that a reality.
Introducing: By The Hour / Session Rehearsal Rooms
Our first two session-based rehearsal rooms are open. These aren’t just rooms with backline - they’re the result of months of community graft, DIY renovations and a whole lot of belief in what spaces like this can be.
Room 1
A medium sized bright room. Kitted out and ready to go. Perfect for after-work writing, tight rehearsals, or just shaking off the day with some volume. Located by our front entrance with a couple of steps, but step free access is available if required.

Room 2
Medium-sized, direct load-in from the car park. No corridors, no hassle. Ideal for bands who want to get in, make noise, and get out. This space also exists as a pop-up small intimate gig space, mosh-tested, wall-repaired.

Both rooms include:
Marshall DSL100 stacks (shout out to Marshall - more on that in a sec)
Orange Bass Combo
Drum Shells & Stands
PA System & Vocal Microphones (SM58)
Wanna Rehearse ? We’ll give you 50% off your first session.
We want your input to shape the launch of these two rehearsal spaces.
We’re asking bands and artists to fill out a quick form to help us understand how you want to use these spaces. Tell us how often you rehearse, your budget, and what makes a great room — it’ll shape what we do next.
👉 Click here to fill out our survey / claim your discount
As a thank you, everyone who completes the form by Monday 21st July will receive a 50% discount code for your first rehearsal session. Codes will be sent out next week and can be used until 31st August 2025.
We’re a non-profit community music space. Every booking feeds straight back into improving the building and facilities.
Right now, room 2 is available on weekdays during the day, and both room 1 & 2 are open evenings and weekends. As we keep building, access will grow.
A Word About Marshall
One of the first people we invited to visit Canalside Community Music space was Cam from Marshall. Cam saw the bare bones of the space and left us with cabs, heads and further support. Marshall had previously helped Boom out of a sticky situation, when our building at Millwright Street flooded, the very next day their team was organising for us to have replacement gear with no expectations. We can’t thank them enough.
The Booking System
Bookings open to the public next week, but by helping us with this survey will give you early access and the discount code.
PS: None of this came together overnight.
What we’ve built so far has only been possible thanks to the time, energy and heart our community has poured in, especially the volunteers who’ve helped turn this vision into reality.
We want to give a special shoutout to one of them: Aidan. We first clocked him back at the old Boom, always in the pit and always bringing the energy. When we put the call out to dismantle the old venue, Aidan showed up. Aidan is in his early 20’s, he first attended Boom Leeds to see Coffin Mulch when he was teenager, now a welder by day, he’s brought his skills, his graft, and his spirit to the rebuild every step of the way.
Aidan’s been a key part of making this place what it is. He even moshed through his own freshly painted wall at one of our first test gigs, and came back the next day to patch it up without fuss.
That’s the energy we love. That’s the kind of community we’re building. We’re proud to invite Aidan onto our new Community Committee to help shape what comes next at Boom Leeds and Canalside Community Music Space.
Big up, Aidan and big up all of you who’ve helped get us this far. Let’s keep building.
